Design and Agriculture
Growing up on a dairy farm in North Central Kentucky, agriculture has always been part of my “DNA.”
Being licensed as an Architect and Interior Designer, my “ah ha” moment came in 2005 when I read an article in Metropolis Magazine “Tending the Herd” about Claudy Jongstra, a Dutch artist and textile designer.
The article highlighted her herd of Drenthe Sheep and how she uses the wool In her designs and wool felted artwork that is incorporated into buildings.
Fast forward to June of 2022 when I started my flock with eight (8) weaned Registered Shetland Lambs and have grown to over 50 sheep and counting as of 2025.
Along with the sheep, I am a Certified Master Fiber Sorter/Grader/Classer hrough the State University of New York (SUNY) – Cobleskill Campus.
